A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT

relating to the equalized wealth level under the public school 
finance system for school districts located in counties with small 
populations.
	BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:                        
	SECTION 1.  Section 41.002, Education Code, is amended by 
adding Subsection (c) to read as follows:
	(c)  Notwithstanding Subsection (a), a school district whose 
central administrative office is located in a county with a 
population of 5,000 or less may have a wealth per student greater 
than the amount prescribed by Subsection (a) but not greater than 
$500,000.
	SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2005.
