A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT

relating to the maximum amount of certain fees imposed by the 
secretary of state in connection with the adoption of a child in 
another country.
	BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:                        
	SECTION 1.  Section 405.031, Government Code, is amended by 
adding Subsection (g) to read as follows:
	(g)  Notwithstanding Subsection (a)(1), the secretary of 
state may not charge more than a total of $100 under that subsection 
for the issuance of apostilles requested for use in proceedings 
related to the adoption of a child in another country, regardless of 
the number of apostilles requested in connection with the adoption 
of that child.
	SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2005.
