SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 2
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize the Reverend Dr. Timothy James Brown on the occasion of
his installation as the pastor of New El Bethel Baptist Church in
Dallas on January 23, 2005; and
WHEREAS, Inspirational and dedicated to helping others,
Pastor Brown was elected in October, 2004, to serve as the
shepherd of New El Bethel Baptist Church; and
WHEREAS, He formerly served as pastor of Golden Hill
Missionary Baptist Church in Hallsville from 1989 to 2002, as
children's pastor at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Dallas from
2002 to 2003, and as Christian education director at
Saint Stephen Community Church in DeSoto from 2003 to 2004; and
WHEREAS, Reverend Brown holds a bachelor's degree from
Bishop College and a master of education degree from
Stephen F. Austin State University; he graduated from the Perkins
School of Theology at Southern Methodist University with a master
of theological studies degree in 1988 and a doctor of ministry
degree in 2000; and
WHEREAS, The installation of Reverend Brown as pastor
initiates a new phase in the life of New El Bethel Baptist Church,
and the church will undoubtedly flourish under his spiritual
guidance and wise stewardship; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Texas Senate, 79th Legislature, hereby
congratulate the Reverend Dr. Timothy James Brown on his
installation as the pastor of New El Bethel Baptist Church and
extend best wishes to him for the future; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
