SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 8
In Memory
of
Mack Kidd
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens
of Austin in mourning the loss of the Honorable Mack Kidd, who
died recently at the age of 63; and
WHEREAS, Judge Kidd had served since 1991 as a justice of
the Court of Appeals, Third District of Texas, in Austin; and
WHEREAS, Mack Kidd was born January 18, 1941, in
Enid, Oklahoma; after honing his debating skills at Bellaire
High School in Houston, he earned his bachelor and law degrees
from The University of Texas at Austin; and
WHEREAS, Beginning with his association with the law firm
of Cofer, Cofer and Hearne, Mack Kidd enjoyed a successful law
career; he worked with several other prominent law firms before
founding the firm of Kidd, Whitehurst, Harkness, and Watson; and
WHEREAS, An exemplary jurist, Judge Kidd set high standards
for practicing law and for public service; he was considered an
extraordinary mentor to young lawyers and a passionate advocate
for the American jury system; and
WHEREAS, He served as president of the Texas Trial Lawyers
Association and as chair of the Travis County Democratic Party;
and
WHEREAS, Judge Mack Kidd was devoted to his wife of 35 years;
he was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and he leaves
behind memories that will be treasured forever by his family and
many friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Texas Senate, 79th Legislature, hereby
extend sincere condolences to the bereaved family of the
Honorable Mack Kidd: his wife, Charlotte Kidd; his daughter
and son-in-law, Amy and Ron Nason; his sons, Russell Roby and
Kevin Kidd; his brother, Robert Craig Kidd; his mother,
Mary Jean Kidd; and his four grandchildren; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
the family of Judge Mack Kidd as an expression of deepest
sympathy from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns
this day, it do so in memory of the Honorable Mack Kidd.
