SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 20
	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to 
recognize Dr. Mark J. Kubala, who will receive the Julie Rogers 
Special Service Award at the Jefferson County Mental Health 
Association's 44th Annual Meeting and Tribute, which is taking 
place January 25, 2005; and
	WHEREAS, Dr. Kubala has been engaged in private practice 
since 1966 and the Beaumont area has benefited greatly from his 
professional expertise in neurological surgery; he is being 
honored for his dedicated work in the Southeast Texas area; and
	WHEREAS, Mark Kubala has served as chairman of the 
neurosurgery section and as chief of surgery for all three 
Beaumont hospitals; he served as president of the Texas Medical 
Association Foundation from 1994 to 1995 and again from 1999
to 2001; he has participated in neurological surgery 
professional activities nationwide and was recognized by the 
American Association of Neurological Surgeons in 1998 with the 
Distinguished Service Award; and
	WHEREAS, Mark Kubala also devotes his time to civic 
activities, serving on the Beaumont Civic Opera Advisory Board, 
Saint Anne's Parish Board, Saint Anne's Grammar School Board, and 
Beaumont Catholic Diocesan School Board; in 1999, the American 
Heart Association honored him for community service with the
Dr. J. C. Crager Award; and
	WHEREAS, A respected physician and an exemplary citizen, 
Dr. Kubala's accomplishments reflect his dedication to his 
profession and his fellow man; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, hereby commend Dr. Mark J. Kubala on his 
exceptional achievements and extend congratulations to him on 
his selection for the Julie Rogers Special Service Award; and, be 
it further
	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 
him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
