SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 23

	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to 
recognize Patricia Kappler, who is retiring on January 31, 2005, 
after 30 years of loyal service with the Office of the 
Comptroller of Public Accounts; and

	WHEREAS, Patsy Kappler joined the comptroller's office in 
June of 1974; she worked in the mail room before transferring to 
the Edit Section, now the Document Classification Section, in 
1976; after moving to Houston for a year, she returned to the 
comptroller's office as a temporary employee; and 

	WHEREAS, In June of 1983, she began working in the 
Microfilm and Batching Section; she later transferred to the 
Incoming Mail Section in Revenue Processing, the section from 
which she is now retiring; and

	WHEREAS, A dedicated and hardworking employee, she has had 
the distinction of serving under three comptrollers--
Bob Bullock, John Sharp, and Carole Keeton Strayhorn; and

	WHEREAS, Patsy Kappler is admired and respected by her 
colleagues, and her presence in the Office of the Comptroller of 
Public Accounts will be greatly missed; now, therefore, be it

	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 
79th Legislature, hereby commend Patricia Kappler on her 
exemplary service and her many contributions to our state and 
extend to her best wishes for the retirement years ahead; 
and, be it further

	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 
her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
