SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 35
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize the Medical Center Hospital Family Health Center in
Odessa on the occasion of its 10th anniversary, which is being
celebrated on January 30, 2005, with an open house; and
WHEREAS, The Family Health Center provides family medical
services, pediatric care, women's health services, and emergency
dental care as well as affordable prescription services to local
citizens with limited resources; and
WHEREAS, The center is also a teaching facility where
nursing students, physicians' assistants, medical assistants,
and X-ray technicians get clinical experience in their chosen
field; and
WHEREAS, In addition to offering well-child examinations,
preschool immunization clinics, and laboratory and radiology
services, the center gives one-to-one classes for patients about
health maintenance and a variety of medical conditions; social
services are available to enable patients to find resources and
financial assistance in the community; and
WHEREAS, A diabetes center, an annual community flu
clinic, and an active outreach program promote better health
care; and
WHEREAS, The administrators and staff members of the
Family Health Center are dedicated professionals, who are
committed to delivering quality family health care services and
to improving the health of the community, and the citizens of
Odessa and surrounding counties benefit from their services;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, hereby commend the members of the staff and the
administrators of Medical Center Hospital Family Health Center
for their many contributions to improved health care in Odessa
and the surrounding communities and extend to all best wishes for
a special 10th anniversary celebration; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
them as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
