SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 43
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize and welcome to Austin the students from Argentina who
are participating in the annual Fundación Universitaria del Río
de la Plata program at the Lozano Long Institute of Latin
American Studies at The University of Texas at Austin; and
WHEREAS, Created in 1970 by university students, the
Fundación Universitaria del Río de la Plata strives to prepare
exceptional young professionals and students as national leaders
by broadening their understanding of national and international
issues; participants include individuals with a variety of
diverse interests, including sociology, political economy, law,
and business, who possess a wide spectrum of political views; and
WHEREAS, By participating in the 2005 Fundación Universitaria
del Río de la Plata program, these outstanding young people will
gain more insights into the state of our nation, the differences
between their country and ours, and the roles that municipal, county,
state, and national governments play in our society; during their
stay in Austin, they will meet with the Texas Secretary of State,
senators, and state officials as well as with deans and
distinguished professors at The University of Texas at Austin; and
WHEREAS, The Texas Senate is honored to recognize the 16
outstanding young participants of the 2005 Fundación Universitaria
del Río de la Plata program: Giselle Irene Benito, Sergio Papi,
Matías Federico Bianchi, Pablo Marcelo Carballal, Alvaro Iriarte,
Paula Andrea Clerici, Ignacio Fernandez Borzese, Martín Olmos,
Gustavo Ramiro Fernandez Patri, María Fernanda Heyaca,
Ramiro Andrés López Ghio, María Manuela Lopez Menendez,
Sebastián José Lew, Manuel Ignacio Terradez, María Carlota Ucin,
and José María Videla Saenz; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, hereby commend these young men and women for
their commitment to becoming effective leaders by furthering
their education and extend to them best wishes for a memorable
stay in Austin; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
them as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
