SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 51
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Patricia Layne, who is retiring after 17 years of loyal service with the Texas Education Agency and almost 30 years of service with the state; and WHEREAS, Patricia Layne began her state employment in the Office of the Secretary of State; she then served with the Office of the Comptroller of Public Accounts before joining the Texas Education Agency; and WHEREAS, During her tenure with the Texas Education Agency, Patricia has persevered in carrying out her duties through eight major agency reorganizations; she spent countless hours overseeing the agency's network to meet its new organizational structures; and WHEREAS, Noted for her diligence and tenacity, she promoted connectivity within the agency, thus improving upon its work on behalf of the schoolchildren of our state; Patricia played a vital role in deploying new technologies at the agency, taking a token ring network to Ethernet and converting Novell to Microsoft; and WHEREAS, In implementing these new technologies, she skillfully collaborated with other state agencies to ensure a smooth transition; and WHEREAS, An exemplary employee, Patricia is admired and respected by her colleagues, and her presence at the Texas Education Agency will be greatly missed; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 79th Legislature, hereby commend Patricia Layne on her exceptional service and her many contributions to our state and extend to her best wishes for the retirement years ahead; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
