SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 65
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Kathleen Jackson and ExxonMobil Corporation for outstanding contributions to the Southeast Texas community and the Lamar Institute of Technology; and WHEREAS, A 27-year veteran of ExxonMobil Corporation, Kathleen Jackson currently serves as public affairs manager for ExxonMobil Corporation, overseeing chemical, refining and supply, and lubricants and petroleum specialties business in Beaumont; and WHEREAS, An exemplary citizen, Kathleen generously devotes her time and energy to Southeast Texas as chair of the City of Beaumont "Keep Beaumont Beautiful Commission" and of the Lamar Institute of Technology Foundation Board of Directors; she also serves as a member of the Beaumont Chamber of Commerce Education Committee and the Rotary Club of Beaumont, and she is involved with many other worthy organizations; and WHEREAS, ExxonMobil Corporation provides significant support to the Lamar Institute of Technology; the company recently donated $20,000 for scholarships for seniors at Central High School majoring in process technology at the institute; another donation of $35,000 will support additional scholarships and other essential needs; the company has also furnished $30,000 for construction of a distillation plant and is a major employer of the institute's graduates; and WHEREAS, The generous contributions of Kathleen Jackson and ExxonMobil Corporation to Southeast Texas and Lamar Institute of Technology reflect rare dedication and commitment to the development and progress of this fine region and this great institution of our state; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 79th Legislature, hereby commend Kathleen Jackson and ExxonMobil Corporation for their outstanding contributions to Beaumont and the surrounding Southeast Texas community and to Lamar Institute of Technology; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
