SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 85
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to pay tribute to Jettie Lee Jones on the grand occasion of her 100th birthday; and WHEREAS, A gracious lady who is known for her charm and generosity of spirit, Jettie is a revered resident of her community; and WHEREAS, Jettie Lee Jones was born February 22, 1905, to Walter Hunter Barrett and Mattie Porter Barrett; she was educated in Palestine, Texas, at the Chapel School; after completing school, she helped raise her brothers and sisters; she later married and was a loving and nurturing mother to her daughter, Rubie Jean, and her adopted children, Johnny and Caroline; and WHEREAS, A woman of dignity and wisdom, Jettie can be proud of the strong and rich legacy she has created for others; and WHEREAS, A beloved and respected member of her community, Jettie Lee Jones is noted for her courage, her compassion for others, and her enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 79th Legislature, hereby recognize Jettie Lee Jones as a treasured citizen of her community and state; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her as a memento of this special day.
