SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 107
	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to 
recognize the Red Raiders football team of Robert E. Lee High 
School in Tyler, which recently won the 2004 Class 5A Division I
state championship title; and
	WHEREAS, The Tyler Lee Red Raiders won their school's first 
state football championship by defeating the Spring Westfield 
Mustangs by a score of 28-21 before a crowd of 15,000 at the 
Alamodome in San Antonio; and
	WHEREAS, These young athletes have demonstrated great 
talent and dedication throughout the school year, ending the 
season with a 12-3 record, and they can truly take pride in their 
outstanding performance; and
	WHEREAS, Under the superior leadership and expertise of 
head coach Mike Owens and his staff, the Red Raiders have 
developed exceptional teamwork and discipline; and
	WHEREAS, Robert E. Lee High School and the City of Tyler 
are proud of the Red Raiders for their hard work, their 
impressive skills, and their fine sportsmanship; now, therefore, 
be it
	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, hereby commend the Robert E. Lee High School 
Red Raiders for their successful season and congratulate them on 
winning the Class 5A Division I state football championship; and, 
be it further
	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 
the team as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
