SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 119
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Sara Stevens McKnight on the auspicious occasion of her
80th birthday on February 15, 2005, which will be celebrated on
February 13; and
WHEREAS, The daughter of Dr. Branwell Fanning Stevens and
Mrs. Elise Walters Stevens, Sara graduated from El Paso High
School and received her bachelor of science degree in biology
from Hollins University; and
WHEREAS, Sara McKnight has lived in Houston, Abilene, and
Washington, D.C., and has traveled all over the world; she
contributes her energies and talents to community work wherever
she lives; and
WHEREAS, Sara has given her unfailing support to numerous
organizations, including the Girl Scouts of America, Family
Services, and the Young Women's Christian Association; and
WHEREAS, Sara inspires others with her unfailing optimism
and energy; this remarkable lady has earned the love and respect
of all who have had the pleasure to know her; and
WHEREAS, In celebration of her 80th birthday, her family
and friends will gather to congratulate her and share in this
important milestone in her life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, hereby extend best wishes to Sara Stevens McKnight
on the grand occasion of her 80th birthday; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her
as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
