SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 133 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to join Texans Care For Children in observing Children's Advocacy Day at the State Capitol on February 16, 2005; and WHEREAS, Texans Care For Children is a nonpartisan, nonprofit network of individuals and organizations that advocates for the care, protection, and welfare of the children and youth in our state and supports laws, policies, and funding strategies that affect their well-being; and WHEREAS, Texans Care For Children evolved from The CARE Coalition, which was founded in 1985 in order to collect and coordinate information regarding the needs of children and present that data with one voice to lawmakers; and WHEREAS, After notable success and with growing interest from children's service organizations, The CARE Coalition incorporated as Texans Care For Children in 1996; and WHEREAS, Children's Advocacy Day at the State Capitol is an excellent opportunity for the Senate to recognize the important work carried out by children's service organizations throughout the state; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 79th Legislature, hereby commend the members of Texans Care For Children for their worthy efforts on behalf of the young people of our state and recognize February 16, 2005, as Children's Advocacy Day; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the organization as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
