SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 135
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize the Buffalo Springs Lake Buffalo Wing Cook-off as a Texas State Championship event; and WHEREAS, Sponsored by the Village of Buffalo Springs Lake, the cook-off will be held on the beautiful lakeside grounds of Buffalo Springs Lake on the third weekend of April; beginning this year, the cook-off will be an annual event; and WHEREAS, The Buffalo Springs Lake Buffalo Wing Cook-off festivities will include a Jackpot Beans Competition, a Chili Cook-off, a live concert, and a dance; and WHEREAS, The Buffalo Springs Lake Buffalo Wing Cook-off is sanctioned by the International Barbecue Cookers Association and Lubbock County Water Control and Improvement District Number One; and WHEREAS, Approximately 8,000 people are expected to attend the events over the weekend, and a percentage of the proceeds from the cook-off and concert will benefit the Children's Miracle Network; and WHEREAS, Texans are noted for their love of barbecue, and all attending this event will undoubtedly enjoy the superior cuisine provided in this beautiful Lubbock County setting; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 79th Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the annual Buffalo Springs Lake Buffalo Wing Cook-off and extend best wishes to all for a successful 2005 event; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in honor of this occasion.
