SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 152
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Carolyn N. Hamilton, who is retiring from her position as a tax account examiner in the Natural Gas Tax Section of the Office of the Comptroller of Public Accounts; and WHEREAS, A 1965 graduate of Sam Houston High School, Carolyn N. Hamilton began her professional career in 1975 as an administrative assistant for Ray Hardy, a district clerk in Houston; she worked on court cases, final judgments, and payroll; and WHEREAS, She was employed by Judge Donald K. Shipley from 1982 to 1988; her responsibilities included serving as an administrative assistant and court coordinator and managing criminal cases; she also worked on a campaign for Judge Shipley and gained the judge's implicit trust and confidence; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Hamilton joined the Office of the Comptroller of Public Accounts in August of 1988; in the Natural Gas Tax Section, she became a subject matter expert and trainer who set high standards for research, learning, and tax law implementation, while providing exceptional customer service to natural gas taxpayers; she participated in special projects that entailed researching, analyzing, reconciling, and processing data on natural gas tax accounts; and WHEREAS, Over the years, numerous taxpayers sent letters to the comptroller's office commending Mrs. Hamilton for her outstanding customer service; she conducted seminars for natural gas taxpayers and continuously received excellent feedback from the attendees; and WHEREAS, From 1997 to 2004, Mrs. Hamilton and her husband, Jerry, created and sold handcrafted wood items at shows throughout Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, and Louisiana; she also won a craft show award for her originality in hand-painted pieces; Mrs. Hamilton looks forward to travelling the world with her husband and spending more time with her sons, Matt and Kelly, upon retiring; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 79th Legislature, hereby commend Carolyn N. Hamilton on her hard work, dedication, and accomplishments in the Office of the Comptroller of Public Accounts and extend to her best wishes in all future endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
