SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 166
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens of Austin in congratulating Matthew Whitten Kenny of Boy Scout Troop 399, who recently achieved the rank of Eagle Scout; and WHEREAS, This outstanding young man has brought honor to himself, his family, his troop, his community, and his state in earning the coveted Eagle Badge; and WHEREAS, Matthew completed a service project that required him to exercise his leadership abilities and at the same time benefit his community; he orchestrated building a large structure to house and secure underwater plants at the Austin Nature Center; and WHEREAS, Few are privileged to be named among the ranks of the elite corps of Eagle Scouts; only two out of every 100 Boy Scouts earn this distinguished honor; and WHEREAS, Following the principles of the Scout oath and promise, Matthew advanced from Tenderfoot, Second, First, Star, and Life classes to Eagle Scout; he is truly an exemplary citizen of the State of Texas; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 79th Legislature, hereby congratulate Matthew Whitten Kenny on attaining the rank of Eagle Scout and commend him on this great achievement; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for Eagle Scout Kenny as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
