SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 167
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Benjamin Thomas Ferguson of Boy Scout Troop 399 in
Austin for achieving the rank of Eagle Scout; this fine young man
joined the elite corps of Eagles recently and was presented the
coveted Eagle Badge at a Court of Honor; and
WHEREAS, Few achieve this distinguished honor; only two
out of every 100 boys in the Boy Scout program attain the rank of
Eagle Scout; and
WHEREAS, Following the principles of the Scout oath and
promise, Benjamin advanced through the ranks of Tenderfoot,
Second, First, Star, and Life classes before reaching
Eagle Scout; and
WHEREAS, This personable young man displayed leadership
through planning, developing, and conducting a service
project that benefited his community, which was organizing
the categorization of deteriorating headstones in the
Texas State Cemetery; he is truly a shining example to his
fellow Scouts and the young people of Texas; and
WHEREAS, By becoming an Eagle Scout, Benjamin has brought
great honor to himself, his family, his troop, his community,
and his state; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, hereby commend Benjamin Thomas Ferguson on
receiving this prestigious honor and congratulate him on his
outstanding achievement; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
Eagle Scout Ferguson as an expression of esteem from the
Texas Senate.
