SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 171
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
pay tribute to Mrs. Flercy Edwards Turner on the grand occasion
of her 100th birthday; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Turner was born February 25, 1905, in
Wilmot, Arkansas, to Robert and Frances Edwards; she is the
mother of Mrs. Mildred Anderson, of Birmingham, Alabama; she
has three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and a
great-great-grandson; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Turner became a member of New Hope Baptist
Church in Dallas in 1946; she is appreciative of her church
family, and she is considered a source of inspiration to other
church family members; and
WHEREAS, A beloved and respected member of her community,
this gracious lady is known for her charm and generosity of
spirit, her compassion for others, and her enthusiasm for living
each day to its fullest; and
WHEREAS, In celebration of her 100th birthday, her family
and friends are gathering on February 27, 2005, at New Hope
Baptist Church to congratulate her and share in this milestone
in her life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, hereby recognize Mrs. Flercy Edwards Turner
as a treasured citizen of Dallas and our state; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
her as a memento of this special day.
