SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 179
In Memory
of
Javier Marin, Jr.
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens of the Rio Grande Valley and Texans across the state in mourning the loss of United States Army Sergeant Javier Marin, Jr., who died January 24, 2005, at the age of 29, while serving his country in Iraq; and WHEREAS, Javier served in Bosnia and was stationed in Germany when he was deployed to Iraq almost a year ago; he was only weeks away from finishing his second three-year tour in the Army when he was tragically killed; and WHEREAS, A 1996 graduate of Mission High School, Javier was looking forward to civilian life and planned to pursue a career in law enforcement; and WHEREAS, Javier was proud to serve his country, and he leaves a legacy of courage and fidelity that will be remembered by all who knew him; and WHEREAS, A quiet, reserved man with a ready smile, he was a devoted son and brother, and his cherished memory will remain forever with his family and many friends; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 79th Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the life of Javier Marin, Jr., and extend sincere condolences to his bereaved family; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Army Sergeant Javier Marin, Jr. Hinojosa ________________________________ President of the Senate I hereby certify that the above Resolution was adopted by the Senate on February 21, 2005, by a rising vote. ________________________________ Secretary of the Senate ________________________________ Member, Texas Senate
