SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 198
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Marlin Price, who is retiring after four years of
outstanding service as police chief in Southlake and more than
30 years of exemplary service in law enforcement; and
WHEREAS, Marlin Price is well known for his dedication to
his profession and for his leadership as police chief; before
assuming the duties of Southlake police chief, he served on the
Dallas police force for 28 years; and
WHEREAS, During his tenure at Southlake, he increased
community involvement through the Southlake Mounted Patrol, the
Citizens on Patrol groups, and the Southlake Department of Public
Safety Citizens Academy; and
WHEREAS, Chief Price also worked with the Lions Club to
establish the Shield Foundation, which provides, when police
officers and firefighters are seriously injured or killed,
immediate assistance to their families; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his exceptional career, Chief Price
has exhibited expertise and sound judgment in dealing with the
unique challenges of law enforcement; and
WHEREAS, A man of integrity, strength, and generosity,
Chief Price has earned the admiration of the people in the
North Texas communities he has served, and his presence, wisdom,
and wise counsel as Southlake police chief will be greatly
missed; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, hereby commend Marlin Price on his many
achievements in law enforcement and his outstanding
contributions to Southlake and extend best wishes to him
for the future; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared
for him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
