SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 221
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pleasure
in recognizing Reverend and Mrs. Jerry M. Green on the occasion
of their 50th wedding anniversary; and
WHEREAS, Jerry Green, a native of Louisiana, and
Barbara Chambers, of Flint, Michigan, met in San Diego, California,
where Jerry was stationed while serving in the United States Navy;
and
WHEREAS, They were married on March 5, 1955, at Pacific
Beach Christian Church in San Diego, and they have spent the
years since sharing in mutual love and respect; and
WHEREAS, Reverend and Mrs. Green have traveled across the
United States and to several countries during their service in
the ministry; since July of 1971, Reverend Green has been the
pastor of Porter United Pentecostal Church in Porter, Texas; and
WHEREAS, The world has changed considerably during the
years of their marriage, yet Reverend and Mrs. Green have
continued to cherish traditional family and moral values; and
WHEREAS, They have been blessed with a wonderful family;
their six children, Curt, Mark, Timothy, Steve, Kerry, and
Christie, and their 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren
have been a source of much pride and joy; and
WHEREAS, The family and friends of the anniversary couple
will join them on March 5 at a reception hosted by the Porter
United Pentecostal Church to honor them and celebrate this
milestone in their lives; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, hereby extend congratulations to
Reverend and Mrs. Jerry M. Green on their golden wedding
anniversary and best wishes to them for the future; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
this distinguished couple as a memento of this special day in
their lives.
