SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 236
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Ernesto Ancira, Jr., who has been selected for induction into the San Antonio Business Hall of Fame by Junior Achievement of San Antonio; and WHEREAS, The owner and president and chief executive officer of Ancira Enterprises, Incorporated, Ernesto has been a pillar of the San Antonio business community since rescuing a struggling Chevrolet dealership in 1972 and becoming the first Hispanic dealer/owner of an automobile dealership in the United States; and WHEREAS, Born in 1944 in San Antonio, Ernesto spent his youth in Mexico City before returning to Texas and becoming the first member of his family to graduate from college; he earned a degree in marketing from Saint Edward's University in Austin in 1964; and WHEREAS, Ernesto's initial Chevrolet dealership grew into Ancira Enterprises, which was created in 1983, and the company now has 12 automobile franchises, four recreational vehicle dealerships and over 700 employees throughout Texas; his team concept of management has made his employees feel they are part of a family; and WHEREAS, Ernesto has dedicated himself to the betterment of his community through his philanthropy and through his service in leadership positions with such organizations as the United Way, the Alamo Bowl, the March of Dimes and many others; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 79th Legislature, hereby commend Ernesto Ancira, Jr., on his exceptional achievements and extend congratulations to him on his induction into the San Antonio Business Hall of Fame; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
