SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 244
In Memory
of
James M. Allison
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens
of Woodville in mourning the loss of James M. "Jim" Allison, who
died January 25, 2005, at the age of 60; and
WHEREAS, Jim Allison was born on July 17, 1944, to
Harold Eugene Allison, Sr., and Dorothea Morgan Allison; he began
his education in a two-room school at Hillister and graduated in
1962 from Kirby High School; he attended Baylor University and
earned a bachelor's degree in 1966 and a law degree in 1968; and
WHEREAS, After law school, Jim became a special agent with
the Federal Bureau of Investigation; in 1971, he returned to
Woodville, where he practiced law and established Woodville
Abstract and Title Company; and
WHEREAS, A widely respected community leader, Jim Allison
served on the Woodville City Council and was county attorney for
Tyler County and city attorney for Colmesneil and for Woodville;
and
WHEREAS, He participated in numerous civic and
professional organizations and held memberships in the
State Bar of Texas, Tyler County Bar Association, and Tyler
County Board of Realtors; a former member of the Lion's Club and
the Tyler Chamber of Commerce, he also coached Little League in
Tyler County; and
WHEREAS, A devout member of First Baptist Church, Jim
served as a trustee, a deacon, and a Sunday school teacher; he
sang in the sanctuary choir and was part of the "kitchen cleanup
crew" with AWANA; and
WHEREAS, Jim Allison was known as a quiet, gentle man who
loved his family, cherished his friends, and respected others; he
was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and he leaves
behind memories that will be treasured forever by his family and
many friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the
bereaved family of James M. Allison: his wife of 36 years,
Beth Allen Allison; his daughter and son-in-law,
Elizabeth and Jay Kenesson; his son and daughter-in-law,
Michael and Marilyn Allison; his brother, Harold E. Allison, Jr.;
his sister, Karen Crosby; and his devoted grandchildren; and,
be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
the members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy
from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this
day, it do so in memory of James M. Allison.
