SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 286
In Memory
of
Walter Curtis Webb, Sr.
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens of Houston in mourning the loss of Walter Curtis Webb, Sr., who died February 22, 2005, at the age of 70; and WHEREAS, Walter Webb was born on January 11, 1934, in Bryan, and he attended school in the Bryan Independent School District; he worked for American Bakeries and retired after 35 years of exemplary service; and WHEREAS, A devout Christian, he was baptized at an early age at Wayman Chapel African American Episcopal Church; he was married to Lula Harris Webb for 44 years and the couple had seven children; and WHEREAS, A distinguished gentleman, Walter was known for his reliability and his generosity toward others, and his wisdom, warmth, and valued counsel will not be forgotten by those who knew him; and WHEREAS, He was a devoted husband and father, and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by his family and many friends; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 79th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved family of Walter Curtis Webb, Sr.: his wife, Lula Harris Webb; his son, Walter Curtis Webb, Jr.; and his daughters, Donna Harris, Glenda Williams, Beverly Glover, Connie Jenkins, and Sabrina Lewis; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Walter Curtis Webb, Sr. Whitmire ________________________________ President of the Senate I hereby certify that the above Resolution was adopted by the Senate on March 2, 2005, by a rising vote. ________________________________ Secretary of the Senate ________________________________ Member, Texas Senate
