SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 287

	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to 
recognize Shirley Walker, who is being honored by the Dallas 
Chapter of the National Association of Black Social Workers, 
Incorporated, for her exemplary commitment to community service;
and

	WHEREAS, This organization is honoring Shirley at its 
Annual Hezekiah Jerry Scholarship Luncheon; Shirley exemplifies
the theme of this year's luncheon, "Continuing To Make A 
Difference"; and

	WHEREAS, Shirley currently serves as senior vice president
of the Urban League Community Service Centers; she was recently 
inducted into the Century Club of the National Urban League for 
her 25 years of dedicated service to the organization; and

	WHEREAS, A highly respected community leader, Shirley 
is a source of strength to others and an inspiration to her 
colleagues, and she deserves recognition for her outstanding 
work; now, therefore, be it

	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 
79th Legislature, hereby commend Shirley Walker for her 
exceptional leadership and many accomplishments in the field 
of social work; and, be it further

	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 
her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
