SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 289

	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the 
citizens of San Antonio in congratulating Ernest A. "Buddy" Mass 
for being named vice president emeritus by the International 
Association of Fire Fighters; and

	WHEREAS, Buddy served as an officer for 28 of his 32 years 
of service as a member of San Antonio Local 624, acting as 
president, first vice president, and recording secretary; and

	WHEREAS, Buddy was elected in 1982 to serve as the 
International Association of Fire Fighters' 11th District vice 
president; he has long served as chairman of the Constitution and 
By-laws Committee and was appointed chairman of the Civil Rights 
Committee in 1989; and

	WHEREAS, His knowledge, experience, and wise counsel will 
be greatly missed by San Antonio Local 624 and the entire 
association; he has worked with determination and resolve to 
promote the ideals upon which the association was founded; now, 
therefore, be it

	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, hereby commend Ernest A. Mass and applaud his 
many accomplishments and exceptional leadership; and, be it 
further

	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 
him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
