SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 301
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Katherine Kuhns of Conroe, who has been named one of
Texas' top youth volunteers for 2005 by the Prudential Spirit
of Community Awards program; and
WHEREAS, Prudential Financial, in partnership with the
National Association of Secondary School Principals, presents
the awards annually to honor young people across America for
outstanding volunteerism and community service; in 2005, more
than 20,000 students nationwide were considered for the awards;
and
WHEREAS, A student at Conroe High School, Katherine will
receive a bronze medallion for qualifying as a Distinguished
Finalist in the 10th year of the awards program; she is being
honored for her exemplary work teaching children how to properly
care for their pets through her Lending a Paw program; and
WHEREAS, Katherine Kuhns has shown by example that she
embodies the true spirit of giving to the community, and she will
undoubtedly have a positive influence on the young people of our
state; and
WHEREAS, Katherine has earned the admiration of her peers,
her community, and her state, and she is truly deserving of the
honor bestowed on her; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, hereby extend congratulations to Katherine Kuhns
for her selection as one of our state's Distinguished Finalist
in the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards program and extend
best wishes to her in all her future endeavors; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
this exemplary young lady as an expression of high regard from
the Texas Senate.
