SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 303
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Mildred H. Burnett on the auspicious occasion of her 94th birthday and to honor her for her outstanding service as a community leader and teacher in Bonham and in Fannin County; and WHEREAS, Mildred was born in Fannin County on March 11, 1911; she began teaching at Flag Springs in 1930 and taught for 34 years; she is a member of the Texas Retired Teachers Association and the Delta Kappa Gamma Society, a professional honorary society of women educators; and WHEREAS, In 1934, she married Noel Y. Burnett, and the couple enjoyed a loving 51-year union; her husband died in 1985; and WHEREAS, An active member of her community, Mildred Burnett served as a member of the board of directors and as an officer for the Texoma Council of Governments; and WHEREAS, She has volunteered as a pink lady for the Northeast Medical Center Hospital Auxiliary and has taught Sunday school at the First Baptist Church in Bonham for 31 years; and WHEREAS, As a teacher and civic leader, Mildred has demonstrated exceptional dedication and commitment to the Bonham community and Fannin County, and she is admired and respected by all who know her; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 79th Legislature, hereby commend Mildred H. Burnett for her outstanding achievements and her service to the City of Bonham and Fannin County and the State of Texas and extend to her best wishes for a celebratory 94th birthday; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
