SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 305
In Memory
of
Dwaine A. Johnson
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens of Fort Worth in mourning the loss of Dwaine A. Johnson, who died January 18, 2005, at the age of 76; and WHEREAS, Born August 2, 1928, in Mondamin, Iowa, Dwaine served in the United States Air Force from 1950 to 1954; he received the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal; and WHEREAS, A respected entrepreneur, Dwaine was cofounder and owner of Overhead Door Company of Fort Worth from 1968 to 1989; he became a lobbyist in Austin in 1990; and WHEREAS, An exemplary citizen, Dwaine served as a Fort Worth city councilman from District Three from 1981 to 1985; as councilman, he played an important role in the development of the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport and the Trinity Railway project; and WHEREAS, Dwaine served as the first state legislative consultant for Tarrant County; he established the Texas Speaker's Golf Tournament and worked for many years supporting this event; and WHEREAS, Dwaine was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by his family and many friends; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 79th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved family of Dwaine A. Johnson: his wife, Gayle Johnson; his sons and daughters-in-law, Steven and Patricia Johnson and Kelly and Alyssa Johnson; his granddaughters, Stephanie, Susan, and Andrea; his brothers, Merlin, Quentin, and Stan; and his sister, Jan; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Dwaine Johnson.
