SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 313
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
pay tribute to Melbony Bateman Pink on the grand occasion of her
90th birthday; and
WHEREAS, This gracious lady is well known for her charm and
generosity of spirit, and she is a revered resident of Houston;
and
WHEREAS, Melbony was born in Branch, Louisiana,on
March 11, 1915; a generous and warmhearted woman, she raised
four children, Walter, Clifton, Carl, and Claudette, and has 18
grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, Melbony practices her faith in her daily life,
and she is a member of Wesley Chapel African Methodist Episcopal
Church; and
WHEREAS, An energetic and vibrant woman, Melbony Pink
worked as a beautician for 32 years; and
WHEREAS, Melbony is a beloved and respected member of her
community and is noted for her courage, her compassion for
others, and her enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas hereby
recognize Melbony Bateman Pink as a treasured citizen of Houston
and the State of Texas and extend congratulations to her on this
important milestone in her life; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
her as a memento of this special day.
