SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 333

	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to 
congratulate the Wilson Memorial Hospital District on the 
opening of the Connally Memorial Medical Center in Floresville 
and to recognize all attending its ribbon-cutting ceremony on 
March 7, 2005; and
	WHEREAS, The new medical center will better serve the 
community by offering a wider range of services than the current 
hospital; its facilities include a larger emergency department, 
two operating rooms and an intensive care unit with the latest 
state-of-the-art lifesaving equipment, which will allow more 
critically ill patients to be treated locally; a new 
Decontamination Area will facilitate community response to 
bio-terrorism and other potential environmental disasters; and
	WHEREAS, The hospital is named in honor of the veterans who 
have made personal sacrifices to support and defend our country 
and as a tribute to the visionary leadership and life work
of John Bowden Connally, Jr., Merrill Lee Connally and
Wayne Wright Connally, all Floresville natives who dedicated 
their lives to public service and made substantial contributions 
to our state and nation; and
	WHEREAS, The leadership of the Wilson Memorial Hospital 
District recognized the need for improved health-care facilities 
and services for the citizens of Floresville and the surrounding 
communities, and the new medical center is the fulfillment of the 
district's commitment and evidence of what members of a community 
working together can achieve; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, hereby commend the administrators, staff and 
medical professionals of the Wilson Memorial Hospital District 
and of the new Connally Memorial Medical Center for their hard 
work to improve the health and well-being of the community and 
extend best wishes to all for the future; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in 
honor of the opening of the Connally Memorial Medical Center.
