SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 345

	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pride 
in recognizing the German exchange students who are visiting 
James Bowie High School and in extending to them a warm welcome 
on the occasion of their visit to the Capitol on March 16, 2005; and
	WHEREAS, The exchange students are participating in the 
German-American Partnership Program, which is part of the Goethe 
Institute, an international organization sponsored by the German 
government; since its establishment in 1977, the program has 
helped promote German instruction in high schools throughout the
United States and has educated young people with regard to the 
host country's culture and way of life; and
	WHEREAS, Miriam "Mimi" Parris is the James Bowie High School
teacher who sponsors the school's exchange program; she began 
sponsoring exchanges with the Munich area in 1989, first with 
a high school in Pullach and then with Gymnasium Oberhaching, 
a high school southeast of Munich; and
	WHEREAS, The German exchange students visiting James Bowie 
High School are Nikola Berkmann, Claudia Baur, Natalie Wittlinger,
Melanie Froemel, Julia Temper, Rebecca Linde, Daniel Wirmer, 
Tobias Sattler, Lorenz Popp, Carl Warkentin, Elena Ayvatoglou, 
Ines Geissler, Friederike Warbus, Kira Florian, Manuela Koch, 
Sandra Krause, Christian Goldmann, Patrick Schwedes, Niklas Schroth,
and Andreas Augat; their teacher sponsors are Eleonore Vickers 
and Ludwig Pichler; and
	WHEREAS, It is a genuine pleasure to have these students 
and their teacher sponsors as guests in the Lone Star State, and 
it is sincerely hoped that their visit here is a most enjoyable 
one; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 
79th Legislature, hereby extend hospitality and a warm welcome 
to each of these students and teachers and recognize them as 
Honorary Texans with all attendant rights and privileges 
thereof; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution be prepared for 
them as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
