SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 366
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Dr. Charles Endress, who is retiring after more than 35 years of exemplary service to Angelo State University; and WHEREAS, Dr. Endress joined the faculty of Angelo State University in 1969 and has served as a professor and as the head of the Department of History; he has further contributed to the university by twice serving as Interim Dean of the College of Liberal and Fine Arts; and WHEREAS, Dedicated to the service of his country, Dr. Endress served 31 years in the United States Army Reserve, including active duty during Operation Desert Storm, and retired as a colonel; he earned the Legion of Merit and the Meritorious Service Medal with Two Oak Leaf Clusters and other decorations; and WHEREAS, His academic and professional achievements include being named a Piper Professor in 1986, as one of the ten outstanding Texas professors of the year, and serving as a military history consultant to the United States Postal Service for the 50th Anniversary of the World War II Commemoration Stamp Series; he is the author of two books and has contributed articles to many publications; and WHEREAS, Throughout his long and productive career, Dr. Endress has carried out his duties with wisdom, generosity, and a deep concern for his students, and his achievements and abilities have contributed immeasurably to the academic life at Angelo State University; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 79th Legislature, hereby commend Dr. Charles Endress for his contributions to higher education in Texas and extend to him best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
