SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 391
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Jose Luis Salinas for his appointment as superintendent of the Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District; and WHEREAS, An Edinburg native and graduate of Edinburg High School, Jose graduated from The University of Texas--Pan American with a bachelor's degree in history in 1973 and a master's degree in education administration in 1979; and WHEREAS, Jose Salinas has had an illustrious career with the Edinburg school district; he was a history and government teacher and an in-school suspension program teacher at Edinburg High School; and WHEREAS, He served as dual principal of the district's gifted and talented program and of Edinburg North Junior High School; he was also director of the school's community guidance center; and WHEREAS, This eminent educator has further served the Edinburg school district as principal of San Carlos Elementary School and Memorial Junior High School and as administrative assistant for district administration and interim superintendent; and WHEREAS, His commitment to education and his dedicated professionalism will surely benefit the Edinburg school district immeasurably in the future; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 79th Legislature, hereby congratulate Jose Luis Salinas on his appointment as superintendent of the Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
