SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 396

	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to 
congratulate the City of Ingleside on the March 19, 2005, 
dedication of the N.O. Simmons Community Recreation Facility; and
	WHEREAS, Situated on land donated by N.O. Simmons and his 
wife, Maria Lourdes Lara Simmons, this unique $1.5 million 
recreational facility provides a wide variety of activities for 
all age groups; and
	WHEREAS, The focal point of the N.O. Simmons Park is a 
lighted 15,000-square-foot skate park, featuring two bowls and 
an assortment of hubba ledges, rails, grind boxes and stairs; in 
addition, a hike-and-bike trail winds through the park, and other 
amenities include seven soccer fields, a children's playground, 
a multiuse sports court and a lighted pavilion; and
	WHEREAS, A man-made drainage channel is being expanded, 
and a permanent pond is being created; it is expected that the 
pond will attract many of the migratory birds that visit the area 
every year, as well as many of the species of birds that call the 
Coastal Bend region their home; and
	WHEREAS, This exceptional park could not have been created
without the generosity of Mr. and Mrs. Simmons, the City of Ingleside's
pledge of general revenue and the valuable assistance of many local 
organizations, including the United States Naval Station's 
Ingleside crew, the San Patricio County Drainage District, Tri-City 
Youth Soccer, Sparkling City Youth Basketball and the Ingleside 
Youth Basketball leagues; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, hereby congratulate the City of Ingleside and 
its citizens for this outstanding addition to their city and 
extend best wishes to all participating in the dedication of the 
N.O. Simmons Community Recreation Facility; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in 
honor of this occasion.
