SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 401
	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to 
recognize the Texas Thoroughbred Association on the occasion of 
its 50th anniversary; and
	WHEREAS, Founded in 1955, the Texas Thoroughbred 
Association has become the largest state breed association in the 
nation, offering programs and services to promote thoroughbred 
horse breeding, ownership, and racing in Texas; and
	WHEREAS, The association instituted the Accredited 
Texas-Bred Program, which is designed to enhance and promote the 
Texas racing and breeding industry by offering incentive awards 
to winners of Texas races; and
	WHEREAS, Members of this valued organization receive the 
latest information regarding equine health, industry issues, 
business strategies, and farm management approaches through its 
Texas Thoroughbred magazine; and
	WHEREAS, The Texas Thoroughbred Association sponsors 
numerous races throughout the year and works to advance breeding 
programs by sponsoring breeding stock sales and auctions; and
	WHEREAS, The industry of thoroughbred breeding and racing 
has grown and prospered throughout the last 50 years, and the 
hard work of this fine organization has played a vital role in 
that growth; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, hereby congratulate the Texas Thoroughbred 
Association for 50 years of promoting interest in ownership and 
breeding of thoroughbreds in the State of Texas; and, be it 
further
	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 
the association as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
