SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 405

	WHEREAS, The Senate of State of Texas is pleased to 
recognize Joe Z. Herrera on the occasion of his retirement from 
the Office of the Comptroller of Public Accounts after 31 years 
of outstanding service to the state; and

	WHEREAS, Joe began his public service career in the state 
treasurer's office in 1975, and he worked under five Treasurers 
during his 21 years in that office; and

	WHEREAS, When the treasury merged with the comptroller's 
office in 1996, Joe was transferred to the Information Technology 
Division, Computer Operations Area, where he was instrumental in 
the transition, assisting with the training of the computer 
operations staff; and

	WHEREAS, Respected and admired by his colleagues, his 
presence in the Office of the Comptroller of Public Accounts will 
be sorely missed; and

	WHEREAS, Joe has become an avid golfer and is gifted in the 
use of his barbeque grill; he will now spend more time honing 
these skills and he plans to be more active in his church; now, 
therefore, be it

	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, hereby commend Joe Z. Herrera for his many 
years of exemplary service and extend to him best wishes for an 
enjoyable retirement; and, be it further

	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 
him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
