SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 420
In Memory
of
Rhonald Dain Rairdan
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens of Medina County and the state in mourning the loss of United States Marine Corps Lance Corporal Rhonald Dain Rairdan, who died January 26, 2005, at the age of 20; and WHEREAS, Lance Corporal Rairdan tragically died in a helicopter crash while courageously serving his country in Iraq; and WHEREAS, Dain Rairdan was born April 22, 1984, at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida to David and Kimberly Wilmot Rairdan; a 2003 graduate of Medina Valley High School, Dain excelled in the Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps and was a member of the Blackhawks Drill Team; and WHEREAS, Dain joined the United States Marine Corps and was assigned to the First Marine Division in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii, as a machine gunner; he was deployed to Iraq as part of the offensive to take control of Fallujah; afterward, his unit hunted for weapons caches and helped police the battle-torn city; and WHEREAS, Assigned to help secure polling sites for Iraq's election, Lance Corporal Rhonald Dain Rairdan was en route to his assignment with 30 others in a CH-53E Super Stallion transport helicopter when it crashed, killing all on board; and WHEREAS, Dain was proud to serve his country, and he leaves a legacy of courage and fidelity that will be remembered by all who knew him; and WHEREAS, He was a devoted son and grandson, a loyal brother, and a true friend, and his cherished memory will remain forever in the hearts of his family and many friends; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 79th Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the life of Marine Corps Lance Corporal Rhonald Dain Rairdan and extend sincere condolences to his bereaved family: his parents, David Rairdan and Kimberly Wilmot Rairdan; his brother, William Kyle Rairdan; his grandparents, William and Barbara Wilmot and Janice and Carl Zechner; and many beloved relatives and friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Marine Lance Corporal Rhonald Dain Rairdan.
