SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 448

	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is please to join 
citizens across our country in recognizing the week of
March 13 through 19, 2005, as National Child and Adult Care Food 
Program Week; and
	WHEREAS, The theme for the week is "Where Healthy Eating 
Becomes a Habit"; the title emphasizes the important role the 
Child and Adult Care Food Program and its providers play in 
promoting lifelong healthy eating habits; and
	WHEREAS, The Child and Adult Care Food Program provides 
nutritious meals to children in day care facilities and child 
care centers; in addition to providing the meals, program 
coordinators work to ensure the recipients learn good health
and nutrition practices that will last them a lifetime; in
South Texas, the program is sponsored by the Edinburg Child Care, 
Incorporated, Nutrition Program; and
	WHEREAS, Caring for children is among our nation's top 
priorities, and since its inception in 1968, the Child and Adult 
Care Food Program has provided children the best possible 
foundation in life; it has also helped numerous adults in day 
care facilities; and
	WHEREAS, Children that are cared for by providers 
participating in the Child and Adult Care Food Program benefit by 
being fed nutritious meals that ensure their proper development 
and gain an early nutrition education that enriches their lives; 
now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, hereby pay tribute to all involved with the 
Child and Adult Care Food Program and to all the organization's 
providers and express appreciation to the program's sponsor in 
South Texas, the Edinburg Child Care, Incorporated, Nutrition 
Program; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in 
honor of National Child and Adult Care Food Program Week.
