SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 453
In Memory
of
Dr. Kathleen S. Kagan-Hallet
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
commemorates the life of noted South Texas pathologist,
Dr. Kathleen S. Kagan-Hallet, who died February 19, 2005, at
the age of 62; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Kagan-Hallet was an associate professor of
pathology and the chief of the division of neuropathology at
The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, and
was also associated with the Audie L. Murphy Memorial Veterans
Hospital; she was widely respected in her field and noted for
training many renowned physicians from around the country in
neuromuscular disease; and
WHEREAS, Kathleen was born in Port Jervis, New York, on
October 22, 1942, and her family lived all over the world; she
attended the Armed Forces Grammar School in Frankfurt, Germany,
which started her interest in learning languages; by the time she
left high school in Albuquerque, she could speak five languages;
and
WHEREAS, She graduated cum laude from the University of
New Mexico, where she earned her medical degree in 1968; she
completed an internship in pathology at the University of
North Carolina and served a residency in anatomic and clinical
pathology at the National Naval Medical Center; she was a fellow
in neuropathology at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology in
Washington, D.C.; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Kagan-Hallet was a highly esteemed physician
and educator, who was admired and respected by all who knew her;
a treasured resident of Boerne, Kathleen was a devoted wife,
daughter, and sister, and she leaves behind memories that will be
treasured forever by her family and many friends; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the
bereaved family of Dr. Kathleen S. Kagan-Hallet: her husband,
Earl Hallet; her mother, Frances Shelton Kagan; and her sister,
Pat Kagan Tobias; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the
Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do
so in memory of Dr. Kathleen S. Kagan-Hallet.
