SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 473
In Memory
of
Ana Maria Rodriguez de Lopez
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens
of Houston in mourning the loss of Ana Maria Rodriguez de Lopez,
who died December 16, 2004, at the age of 65; and
WHEREAS, Ana Maria Rodriguez was born January 12, 1939, in
Montemorelos, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, to Manuel Rodriguez Cantu and
Ana Maria Cantu de Rodriguez; and
WHEREAS, A resident of Houston, she was noted for her many
civic endeavors and political activities; she served as treasurer
for La Paz Charitable Association and volunteered with Northside
Redevelopment, Familias Unidads, and Sembradores de Amistad; and
WHEREAS, She was involved with Harris County Early Voting
for 20 years, and she was a member of Jeff David Hispanic Alumni,
Fiestas Patrias Grand Ball, Madres a Madres, and La Rosa; she was
a teacher's aide in the Houston Independent School District and a
member of Saint Thomas High School Mother's Club; and
WHEREAS, Ana was a member of Saint Patrick's Catholic
Church and demonstrated her faith in her daily life; and
WHEREAS, A woman of charm, sincerity, and generosity, Ana
will long be remembered by those who knew her for her wisdom,
warmth, and valued counsel; she was a devoted wife, mother, and
grandmother, and she leaves behind memories that will be
treasured forever by her family and many friends; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the
bereaved family of Ana Maria Rodriguez de Lopez: her husband,
Jose R. Lopez; her sons, Jose R. Lopez II, Marco Antonio Lopez,
and Carlos Manuel Lopez; her sister, Mary Lu Rodriguez de Levy;
and her grandchildren and great-grandson; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the
Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do
so in memory of Ana Maria Rodriguez de Lopez.
