SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 502
In Memory
of
Paula P. Barrera
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens
of San Antonio in mourning the death of Paula P. Barrera, who
died February 23, 2005, at the age of 84; and
WHEREAS, Paula was born June 7, 1920, and grew up during
the Great Depression; she was a longtime employee of Joske's and
retired after 25 years of loyal service; and
WHEREAS, An outstanding cook, Paula could create a
well-balanced meal on a moment's notice; she loved sewing and
quilting and was in great demand for these skills; and
WHEREAS, Paula enjoyed travel and frequently visited her
large and loving family across the United States and Mexico; and
WHEREAS, A devoted wife and mother, Paula leaves behind
memories that will be treasured forever by her family and many
friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the
bereaved family of Paula P. Barrera: her husband of 65 years,
Ernesto C. Barrera; her sons and daughters-in-law, Joe R. Barrera
and Angela Barrera and Ernest Barrera, Jr., and Janet Barrera;
her daughters and sons-in-law, Esperanza and Armando Arredondo
and Sylvia B. and Raul Romero; and 11 grandchildren and 12
great-grandchildren; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
the members of her family as an expression of deepest sympathy
from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this
day, it do so in memory of Paula P. Barrera.
