SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 508

	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to 
recognize Toni Crawford, who is retiring on March 31, 2005, from 
the Texas Department of Criminal Justice after many years of 
loyal service with the State of Texas; and
	WHEREAS, She began employment with the state in 1973 as an 
administrative assistant with Tyler State College; she resigned 
in 1980 after her son was born, but she returned to state service 
in 1986 as a Clinical Social Worker for the Mentally Retarded 
Offender Program of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice; and
	WHEREAS, Toni accepted a position with the Parole Division 
as Caseworker II in 1987, moved up to the position of Parole 
Officer I in 1988, and was promoted to Parole Officer II in 1989; 
with her next promotion, she became Unit Supervisor in 1996, and 
she was elevated to the position of Program Administrator I in 
2001; and
	WHEREAS, During her career, Toni has provided valuable staff 
training and helped develop case-processing procedures to improve 
production; she has helped her colleagues in the Palestine 
Institutional Parole Office develop the Parole in Absentia program 
relieve prison crowding; and
	WHEREAS, Toni's superior organizational skills and expertise 
have contributed to the smooth operation of the Northern Region 
Institutional Parole Office; a resourceful and dedicated 
professional, she has handled her many responsibilities with 
efficiency and expertise; and
	WHEREAS, An exemplary employee, Toni is admired and respected
by her colleagues, and her presence at the Texas Department of 
Criminal Justice will be greatly missed; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, hereby commend Toni Crawford on her exceptional
service and her many contributions to our state and extend to her 
best wishes for the retirement years ahead; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 
her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
