SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 517

	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to 
recognize the World Championship Bison Cookoff in Santa Anna as 
the Texas State Bison Cookoff; and

	WHEREAS, Held in conjunction with Santa Anna Funtier Days, 
the World Championship Bison Cookoff draws teams from all over 
the state to test their skills against the finest barbecue cooks 
in Texas; and

	WHEREAS, This annual event brings together families and 
friends for fun and fellowship and includes such activities as 
arts and crafts, horseshoes, volleyball, and an open-air 
pavilion dance; and

	WHEREAS, The American bison's historic connections with 
Texas run deep, from the days of the Comanche Indians, whose war 
chief Santa Anna is the namesake for the City of Santa Anna, until 
the present; now, therefore, be it

	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, hereby commend the City of Santa Anna for 
hosting the World Championship Bison Cookoff and proclaim this 
event the Texas State Bison Cookoff; and, be it further

	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in 
honor of this grand occasion.
