SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 521
In Memory
of
Corinna Mercedes Rodriguez
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens
of Austin in mourning the loss of Corinna Mercedes Rodriguez, who
died March 13, 2005, at the age of 13; and
WHEREAS, Corinna Mercedes Rodriguez faced enormous
challenges during her short time on earth; she was diagnosed with
a rare hemophagocytic disorder on December 25, 1994; and
WHEREAS, On June 23, 1995, she received a bone marrow
transplant from her brother Octaviano, who gave her the gift of
life for 10 wonderful years; and
WHEREAS, Corinna was a dearly beloved daughter, sister,
and granddaughter, and she leaves behind memories that will be
treasured forever by her family and friends; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the
bereaved family of Corinna Mercedes Rodriguez: her mother,
Vicky Rodriguez; her father, Oscar Rodriguez; her siblings,
Jose L. Rodriguez, Jr., Juan Eduardo Rodriguez,
Veronica Maria Rodriguez, and Octaviano Rudolfo Rodriguez;
her maternal grandparents, Marcelino Arroyos, Sr., and his wife,
Rosa, and Rosario Gonzales Arroyos; and her paternal grandmother,
Josefina Ramirez; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
the members of her family as an expression of deepest sympathy
from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this
day, it do so in memory of Corinna Mercedes Rodriguez.
