SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 537
WHEREAS, Charles R. Perry and Nancy Jo Perry of Odessa are marking a significant milestone in their marriage with the celebration of their golden wedding anniversary on April 9, 2005; and WHEREAS, Joined in matrimony at Clark Memorial Congregational Church in South Saint Paul, Minnesota, Mr. and Mrs. Perry first met while he was serving his country in the United States Army and she was working as a nurse at Colorado General Hospital in Denver; and WHEREAS, Over the course of the past five decades, they have enjoyed a happy and fulfilling relationship that serves as an inspiration to their family, which includes their daughters and sons-in-law, Elizabeth Ann Sewell and Richard and Nancy Marie McCutcheon and C. C. "Sonny" McCutcheon, their son and daughter-in-law, Charles Thomas Perry and Ruth, and their seven beloved grandchildren; and WHEREAS, A graduate of Bethesda Hospital School of Nursing, Mrs. Perry is a registered nurse; Mr. Perry received his bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering from the University of Oklahoma; they have been respected residents of Odessa since 1956, when Mr. Perry accepted a position there with Sivalls, Incorporated; and WHEREAS, In 1967, the couple founded Perry Gas Companies, Incorporated, which grew to become the largest independent gas processing and transmission company in the nation and which later merged with Parker Drilling Company; despite the demands of running their own business, Mr. and Mrs. Perry have made time to serve their community through their involvement in a host of worthy local organizations; and WHEREAS, Together, Mr. and Mrs. Perry have shared the trials and triumphs of half a century, and their commitment to each other is a source of strength and joy to their family and many friends; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 79th Legislature, hereby congratulate Charles R. Perry and Nancy Jo Perry on their 50th wedding anniversary and extend to them best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Perry as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
