SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 541
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize the Wilson County Children's Services Board on the occasion of the board's benefit dinner on April 7, 2005; and WHEREAS, Since it began operating in the 1970s, the Wilson County Children's Services Board has worked to improve the lives of children in Wilson County, with special emphasis on the needs of children in foster homes; and WHEREAS, The board gives foster children monthly allowances and money on their birthdays and at Christmas; it provides bedding and other supplies for their homes, vision and dental care when needed and gift certificates to school-age children to purchase clothing of their choice; and WHEREAS, Children need more than the basic necessities in life to grow and develop socially and mentally; they must have character-building opportunities, such as those provided at a summer camp; and WHEREAS, Members of the Wilson County Children's Services Board would like for children under their jurisdiction to have the same opportunities as others; they want to raise funds to send 10 children to summer camp, and the benefit dinner is an excellent opportunity for the community to help them reach their worthy goal; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 79th Legislature, hereby commend the members of the Wilson County Children's Services Board for their dedication to serving the children of Wilson County and extend to them best wishes for a successful fund-raising event; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for them as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
