SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 551
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Jack Hinton, who is being honored by the Texas Bankers Association at its annual convention on May 13, 2005; and WHEREAS, During a luncheon at its annual convention, the Texas Bankers Association recognizes bankers who have devoted 50 or more years of service to the banking industry; and WHEREAS, Jack Hinton was born in Ennis on August 17, 1919; he served his country during World War II and remained a reservist in the military for 16 years; he married Naelyn Oden in 1948; and WHEREAS, In 1950, he began working at the State Bank of Jewett for his father-in-law, Ray Oden; he retired as chairman of the bank's board of directors in 2003, but he has continued to go to the bank every day; and WHEREAS, A former mayor of Jewett, Jack was instrumental in attracting Nucor Steel to the town; Nucor Steel is one of the area's largest employers; and WHEREAS, A highly respected leader in his community and in the banking industry, Jack Hinton is an exemplary citizen, and his many contributions to Jewett and to the banking industry merit legislative recognition; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 79th Legislature, hereby commend Jack Hinton for his notable accomplishments and congratulate him on earning recognition by the Texas Bankers Association; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
