SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 553
In Memory
of
Jose Luis Perez, Jr.
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens of Corpus Christi in mourning the loss of Jose Luis Perez, Jr., who died March 12, 2005, at the age of 22; and WHEREAS, Jose Luis Perez, Jr., was a firefighter for the Corpus Christi Fire Department and a paramedic for Reliable Ambulance; he was a member of the local firefighters union and Our Lady of Rosary Catholic Church; and WHEREAS, Life as a firefighter and paramedic requires special qualities that include courage and self-sacrifice, as well as the perseverance to face challenges on a daily basis; and WHEREAS, Jose Luis was dedicated to his work and willingly confronted danger to protect others; a man of integrity, strength, and generosity, he earned the admiration and respect of all who knew him; and WHEREAS, Jose Luis lived each day to the fullest and was a devoted son, brother, and grandson, and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by his family and many friends; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 79th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved family of Jose Luis Perez, Jr.: his parents, Maria Perez and Jose Luis Perez, Sr.; his sisters, Veronica Martinez and Lisa Cano; his brother, Joshua Perez; and his grandparents, Nicolas and Margarita Coronado and Blas Perez; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Jose Luis Perez, Jr. Hinojosa ________________________________ President of the Senate I hereby certify that the above Resolution was adopted by the Senate on April 6, 2005, by a rising vote. ________________________________ Secretary of the Senate ________________________________ Member, Texas Senate
